FRED KARNO COMPANY

This site has two aims: This first is to research the lives of the Fred Karno Comedians who worked in both British Variety AND American Vaudeville. The second is to track down descendants of those Karno Comedians, and unite them in events designed to commemorate their ancestors' histories.

FRED KARNO'S COMPANIES STAGE LISTINGS

Fred Karno, when asked by one theatre manager, who was considering booking one of his sketches, "Who is your star comedian?" has been quoted as retorting: "My name's up there, and that's good enough." But that wasn't always the case. There was a period, between December 1907 and August 1908 when the names of ALL the artistes appearing in the various Karno productions, were named in THE STAGE newspaper.
